RIGHT TO KNOW OVERSIGHT COMMISSION

The Right to Know Oversight Commission is a commission established under RSA 91-A:11.  The purpose of the commission is to “study and oversee the right-to-know law in light of the supreme court's decision in Hawkins v. N.H. Department of Health and Human Services and increasing use of electronic communications in the transaction of governmental business.

 

The Commission is composed of members from the New Hampshire House and the New Hampshire Senate.  Municipalities, school boards the public and the Attorney General’s Office also are represented on the Commission.

 

The Statutes set forth the duties of the Commission which include “any other matter deemed relevant by the commission.”

 

The Commission meets at least monthly.  In preparation for submitting legislation the Committee often meets more frequently.
